Carlisle United are going back to black for the latest new range of kit which has gone on sale this week at the Blues Store at Brunton Park.

While the club's 2008-09 black away replica strip continues to be incredibly popular with supporters, supplies have now arrived of United's new training kit.

Available in shorts and three-quarter pants as well as tracksuits, windjackets and raincoats, the training kit is also predominently black, but with blue piping instead of the red trim of the change playing strip.

Blues Store manager Sonia Anderson said: "The new training kit has been going well already since it went on sale here on Wednesday. It is black and matches what the players wear to train.

"The black away shirts have sold really, really well ever since they were launched in the summer. We are hoping the training kit will also be very popular as it is also black, which people seem to like wearing as much as a fashion item as anything."

The training kit shorts are £16.95 for children and adults, while the three-quarter pants are £16.95 for kids and £19.95 for adults.

The black with blue tracksuits are £44.95 (kids) and £49.95 (adults). The windjackets and rainjackets are both £32.95 for kids and £39.95 for adults.

The new training kit is only available at the Blues Store at Brunton Park, not at BS2 in The Lanes.

Meanwhile, new supplies of the black playing shirts have been ordered by the club after fans again cleared the shelves with an unprecedented demand.

The club normally expects to sell around 3,500 away shirts during its entire two-season lifespan but after the latest orders were placed, that number has already been reached just two months since the black one was launched.

Sonia added: "The fans absolutely love the new black away shirts and the shorts and socks to go with it. The short-sleeved shirts look really good to wear on their own or over a top, not just to go to the match but when you are out and about in general."

Demand has been so high for the change strip that the club has sold out of several items in several sizes several times. Currently, there are shorts (£13.95) and socks (£5.95) in stock, along with children's (£27.95) and women's shirts and small and XXL short-sleeved shirt men's sizes (£35 adults).

Fresh supplies of large and XXL men's shirts will be arriving next week, along with all sizes of long-sleeved shirts.

Managing director and club co-owner John Nixon said: "The new black away shirt is proving to be unbelievably popular with our fans. It is great to see so many of them being worn at games and around Carlisle and further afield. It gives everyone around the club a little lift. We hope the training kit will also be a good seller as it is also black."
