26-year-old central defender Paul Reid is struggling to make the cut for the big game at Brunton Park tomorrow as an ankle injury, picked up in the first half of the recent home game against Southend United, continues to cause problems.

Reid, on-loan from Barnsley, made his first start for the Cumbrians in just over 8 years last month, but had his return cut short when a loose challenge in midfield caused him to turn over on the joint.

John Ward told us this morning: "Paul has been working hard, with Dolly, to try to overcome the injury, but you have to be careful when you are dealing with ligament injuries. At the moment I would say that he is struggling to make it for tomorrow, but that's just something that we have to deal with."

On the build up for the game, he said: "We've had a good week, and we're all ready for the game. We know what we have to do, so we're determined to go out there and do our job, and then we can see what that means for us when the other results come in."

The usual final day mixture means that, come 5pm tomorrow evening, United could find themselves automatically promoted, or facing either Leeds United or Southend United in the end-of-season play-offs.

Doncaster Rovers and Nottingham Forest, our automatic promotion spot rivals, face Cheltenham away and Yeovil at home respectively, in what is gojng to be a nail-biting climax to the campaign for all concerned.

There's only one place to be tomorrow, as the drama unfolds, and that's with us here at Brunton Park.

Remember, buy your ticket early, enjoy the discount, and do your bit to help United over the final hurdle.
