Having considered all of the evidence surrounding the David Raven sending off incident, in the second half of the Southend game on Saturday, Carlisle United have decided to withdraw their appeal against the decision.

John Ward explained: "The problem with appeals is that they can go the other way, and we don't want to run the risk of adding to the number of games that David will miss. In cases like these, you have to argue that the Referee has made a serious error, which is always difficult to do, so we have reluctantly decided not to pursue the matter."

Raven will now miss out on the next three games as a result of the red card received at the weekend.
