FITTING IN
New arrival Cleveland Taylor gave us a few moments of his time earlier this afternoon, moments after putting pen to paper on his two-and-a-half year contract.
He said: "It's done and dusted, and it feels good because it seems to have been going on for a while. It could have been done a bit quicker, probably, but that's football and that's just the way it goes sometimes."
"I came here and trained on Tuesday," he told us, "but nobody was supposed to know about that! I also went down to the Oldham game, and I enjoyed my time with everyone. It looks like a good set of players, so I'm just looking forward to getting on with it now."
"The lads are doing fantastically well, so I probably won't make a huge difference," he added. "Hopefully we can keep things going and move on from here. I think I will bring something a little bit different, and I'm sure I'll fit in to how they like to play. I played right wing for Scunthorpe through all last season, and the year before, and I have to admit that I enjoy playing out there."
"There are a couple of familiar faces," he said. "Jeff Smith and Danny Livesey were both at Bolton when I was there, so it was good to see them again. It helps you to settle in when you know a few people. Obviously I played against you last season, and I'm a bit sorry about that. In fact, the first time I saw Ziggy, he kicked me. I asked him what it was for and he just smiled, so I think it's because he was marking me. Hopefully I can do the same to other teams now that I'm playing for Carlisle."
"It's good to join a club that is fighting for promotion," he admitted. "It would be great to go up with a team for two seasons running, and there can't have been that many players who have done that. It would be fantastic, a dream come true, and that's what I want to do."
"I'll be moving up here, definitely," he told us. "It's a bit too far to travel, and moving up here isn't a problem for me at all. I've got a girlfriend at home, but she'll be fine with it, because she knows it's all part of the job."
