DIFFERENCE IN PACE
We caught up with midfielder Ged Dalton to get some reaction to his two year professional deal, which keeps him at the club until 2009.
He told us: "I'm looking forward to my time here. I've been here a little while and found out what happens, and how things are done, and I think it's going to be good."
"It's strange to leave Scarborough," he admitted, "because I have been with them since I was ten. I was playing for a school team, and they spotted me, and I went in to play for their Centre of Excellence and Youth team, and I also got some time in the Reserves. I got my debut in Conference North last season, which was good, so I enjoyed my time there."
"The difference in the pace of the football has been obvious since I got here," he said. "It's a lot quicker than I'm used to, and obviously I'm playing with a lot better players. That makes it easier because they are keeping an eye on me, making sure I'm in the right position, and they are always talking to me. At Scarborough, we were only part time. We got to train once or twice during the week, if we were lucky, so this is a big change. It's hard work, but you just have to get on with it. When we have a day off I just relax and watch TV, but I'm sure I'll get used to it, because it's what I want to do."
"There have been some rough pitches as well," he added. "Looking at Brunton Park, I can't wait to play on that. Morecambe had a decent pitch the other night, and it's good to play on a pitch like that."
As for his lodging arrangements, he explained: "At the moment, I'm learning to drive, but I haven't passed my test yet. I've been getting lifts with Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, and my Dad meets me to take me back up the motorway. I do stay up here though, if we're busy, so it's working out quite well."
