17-year-old Midfielder Ged Dalton has signed a deal with United this morning that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2009.

Dalton, who became the youngest ever goal scorer for Scarborough when he netted against Hyde United in 2006, teamed up with Carlisle for pre-season training after being tracked by Blackburn, Liverpool and Leicester City following his release from the troubled Yorkshire club in June.

Manager Neil McDonald told us: "He's been with us for pre-season and we have seen what he can do. He's definitely one for the future, and we're pleased that he has signed for us because he has brought a lot of interest from some very good clubs. He's fitted in well, and we're looking forward to working with him and helping him to improve further here with Carlisle United."
