John Ward brought Jeff Smith back in to the starting line up for the long trip to Yeovil as Preston loanee Joe Anyinsah took a seat on the bench, having battled through a midweek injury scare to make the squad.
Tuesday night goal hero and ex-Glover Kev Gall kept his place up front, with midfielder Neale McDermott earning a recall to the bench.
Yeovil were without play maker Marcus Stewart, a late addition to an injury list that was already at crisis point.
United went with a 4-3-3 formation, with Smith playing behind the much more advanced Simon Hackney on the left, and with Kev Gall briefed to pull right at every opportunity.
It was a crisp start, with the tackles flying in on the slick Huish Park surface, and Kev Gall was the first to stretch the defence when he got round the back, out on the right, and swung a cross in. Graham was challenging, but Jones got there first to clear the danger.
Simon Hackney had a sight of the target in the 10th minute when he drifted in to support a Bridge-Wilkinson break. He tried to place his shot from 22 yards out, but it was easy for Larrieu as he smothered it on the first bounce.
Betsy had a shot blocked when the Glovers moved the ball up the other end, and both teams were trying to play flowing and attacking football, keeping it on the floor as much as possible.
Yeovil started to see more of the ball and Peltier created a chance from nothing when he cut inside and delivered a loose pass. Raven raced out, but his attempted clearance was blocked, and it fell nicely for Warne. He spun and put his left foot through it, but it zipped a foot wide of the angle of the post and bar, much to the relief of the wrong-footed United back line.
It was heart in the mouth time on 15 minutes when Westwood received a back pass under pressure from Owusu. He took a touch before clipping it round the advancing striker with a tasty piece of footwork.
Dave Raven had to nod an awkwardly delivered Mark Lynch free kick behind for a corner as the Glovers kept piling forward, and Westwood did well to get something on to that set piece as Lynch rose to make life difficult for him.
Jones put his own goal under threat in the 21st minute when he thought he'd guided a back header safely towards Larrieu. Gall had read it, but he couldn't get enough purchase on the flick to truly test the keeper.
The Glovers came close to breaking the deadlock in the 27th minute when a flighted free kick deceived everyone, leaving Owusu with a clear header on target. Westwood managed to get there and hold on to it, with Betsy waiting to sniff out any kind of handling error.
It became tight in the middle of the park but United got themselves clear on 38 minutes when Hackney sent Gall on a run with a 30 yard pass from deep in his own half. The Carlisle forward took it to the edge of the box before drilling it low towards the bottom corner. Larrieu did well to get down to it, tipping it behind for a corner.
Dave Raven was wild with a 14 yard shot in the 42nd minute, as the Cumbrians continued to get some joy when they attacked down the right hand side, and Danny Graham had the last chance of the half when he attempted to lob his 12 yard header over the keeper from a Bridge-Wilkinson delivery. Larrieu was at full stretch to stop that one from creeping over the line.
Half Time: Yeovil 0 - 0 United
United started the second half with a crisp display of close passing that eventually allowed Gall to go on the overlap. Bridge-Wilkinson, Lumsdon, Graham and Raven were all involved, but the cut back from out wide drifted harmlessly across the face of goal, despite the fact that Larrieu was well beaten.
Warne put a difficult header wide from a Lynch cross as Yeovil tried to reassert their authority, but it was the visitors who would take the lead with a wonderful move in the 49th minute.
Dave Raven went in hard with Jones, and the challenge took him through the defender and out of the other side with the ball. Kev Gall called for it, and his first time cross was perfect for Simon Hackney, arriving late at the far post. A cushioned volley was enough to beat the keeper as the young winger started his celebrations.
The lead was short-lived as Barry swung a 54th minute free kick towards the hulking figure of Guyett, who had stolen a yard towards the goal line. His header fed the ball back in to the mix, and Owusu was able to bundle it home from just 4 yards out to put his side back on level pegging.
It almost got worse for Carlisle in the very next attack when another Barry free kick was poorly dealt with. Forbes guided the half clearance back in to the danger area, and Owusu stabbed a toe at it, poking it beyond the sprawling Westwood. Dave Raven went to full stretch to hook it back off the line and away for a throw in.
The game was moving from end to end and Hackney was unlucky not to convert an Aranalde cross on 58 minutes when he spun and crashed one straight at Larrieu. Bridge-Wilkinson then put a 23 yard grass cutter wide, before the Glovers regained the upper hand.
It started with Betsy twisting and turning in the box and digging a blistering volley out of his feet from just 8 yards out. Westwood did well to make himself big and parry it away for a corner. Peter Murphy was then judged to have dragged Betsy down in a very dangerous position, dead central and 19 yards out, which gave Nathan Jones the chance to float it over the wall and in to the back of the net to give his side the lead.
Yeovil were looking dangerous at set pieces, and a 78th minute corner had the home crowd up on its feet once more as Westwood got a hand to a whistling Barry corner. Guyett got to it, but the touch was enough to put him off and he sent it wide.
Carlisle were having to work to create their chances, and they were diasppointed in the 80th minute when Murphy won his header from a Bridge-Wilkinson free kick. That looped up and dropped nicely for Gall, but it was a difficult volley to execute and he screwed it wide.
United sent bodies forward in the closing stages and it almost paid dividends in the 90th minute when Carlton chested a cross down at the far post. He wasted no time in getting it back over, but his great low cross was just inches in front of Gall and Bridge-Wilkinson.
Bridge-Wilkinson had the final effort of the encounter, lifting a 23 yard shot over the target, but Yeovil had done their job and took the 3 points with their resolute approach.
