With central defender Peter Murphy finally returning to action this week we caught up with him to find out how things are going.

"There's never a good time to get injured," he said, "but doing it in the first game of the season isn't great, because it knocks you back fitness wise as well. You end up having to do it all yourself, the training, getting fit, so for me it's all about working as hard as I can to get back in to it. It's good to be back training, never mind playing, though. I think four weeks out is possibly the longest I've ever been injured, so when you see them all out there on a new training ground having a laugh you really want to be out there as well."

"I got 20 minutes or so under my belt at Swansea," he added, "and I didn't have any reaction or feel anything wrong in my ankle. I had done an awful lot of work on it before the Swansea match, so I wasn't expecting anything bad to happen. Probably the only thing I really noticed was the pace of the game. It was quite quick and of course I didn't enjoy us conceding two goals. They were building up a lot of momentum and unfortunately they got their goals, so that is something we have to learn from, and take that on in to our other games. However, from a fitness point of view I think I'm ready for the full ninety minutes but, obviously, all that matters is whether or not the manager thinks that too. All I can do is keep working on it and hope he agrees."

"I think the lads have done really well from what I've seen," he told us, "and as a side we've been defending brilliantly. Even on Friday night, I thought it was pretty good, but unfortunately it was just the slightest mistake and it cost us."

"For me, while I was out it certainly wasn't a case of hoping we conceded a few or anything like that, far from it, you sit back and think: 'Brilliant the team is doing well', because at the end of the day we all want the team to do well." he said. "It's a long season and there will be injuries and suspensions and things like that, so there will always be a chance for me to get my place back, but no, you certainly wouldn't be sitting hoping the lads would do badly. Mind you, it is different when you're watching instead of playing. When you're watching you get a much broader view of the game, and you see little things here and there, generally speaking though I think we've done pretty well so far this season. Defensively I think we've looked solid and if we can just add a few more goals to that we'll be doing very well indeed. I have noticed though, especially in the home games, that teams have been coming with the intention of stopping us playing. I thought Tranmere was a pretty good example, they got their goal and then sat in a bit and that's something we have to overcome. However, we've had two losses and we're still fourth so that's a positive start, and if we can get back on the winning trail then that'll be even better."
