We caught up with United forward Joe Garner today to find out how he felt his season was progressing:

"Well I still think there's a bit more to come because I didn't play too many games during pre-season," he said. "I spent the whole of pre-season with Blackburn, but only actually played a couple of times. I did get one or two games but I do feel like I'm still getting back in to it in some ways. I think it'll still take me a couple more games to be fully match-fit and firing on all cylinders. Having said that, it was nice to get off the mark down at Huddersfield and I'd like to start getting a few more in the next few games. Obviously it goes without saying that hopefully that'll keep us towards the top of the table as well."

"Saturday might have been a struggle at times but a win's a win and we'll take that whenever we can get it," he admitted. "Three points is what you set out for on a Saturday and sometimes you just have to take them however they come. It was a bit scrappy and I think perhaps they came and would have been happy with a draw, but I did think that we deserved a win in the end. It can be very, very hard to break a team down when they come and have ten back and one lad up front, but if it takes 90 minutes, fine, if it takes 92, that's fine as well. If that's what it's going to take for us to win the game then we'll do it."

"It helps because we've got a great team spirit," he added. "Even day to day on the training ground everyone is always upbeat and having a laugh, and that goes for the rest of the club too. The lads all get on great anyway, but part of that comes from the staff as well. People like Greg and Dennis set a really positive atmosphere around the club, and it's something that I think everyone enjoys."

"The fans have been quality to me," he concluded. "People say it a lot, but it really does fire you up when you hear them shouting or chanting, and I think that goes for the rest of the lads too. When the fans are happy and singing then as a player you enjoy that. It's nice to hear them singing my name as well. I haven't had that before - well, you don't get too many songs playing for the Reserves!"
