MOSTLY ON THE MEND
Karl Hawley had an appointment with the surgeon last week and he wanted him to start running so he's started on that today. He just had a little bit of pain on the outside of his ankle but the surgeon wanted him to start running and see how he went. It seems to have gone ok so far so we're pretty hopeful that Karl will be back in about three weeks time, all being well. We have to watch for secondary problems with the ankle, the surgeon thought we might get some, but touch wood we haven't had anything so far.
Simon Hackney has started running as well, he's a little further off than Karl. He's probably got around a months worth of running, keeping up his leg exercises and building up his strength work and football drills with me. So he will be back in training by the end of the season but he will only be available should we, or when we, reach the play offs. I don't see him making a first team game in the regular season.
Paul Murray went to see a professor down in Stoke last week. We had a productive week with his hamstring tendon. They stuck an injection in when he was down there last Wednesday and he's due to go back again this Wednesday to find out if that has worked or whether he does require surgery. I'll know a bit more later in the week. Fingers crossed that he doesn't need a small operation on the tendon to clear it up. If the injection has worked, bearing in mind he's doing CV work with me now anyway, he could be back in training in the next two weeks. If he does require surgery that would rule him out for the season. The good news is though that this injury is nothing to do with his big knee operation. The professor said that operation was successful, which is excellent news. Now we are finally getting somewhere with this hamstring problem, things are looking up.
James Krause got a knock on his ankle from one of my good friends, Mr Prokas, in the Cumberland Cup game. He's had a precautionary X-ray which has showed, as I thought, that there was no break. He's got quite a bit of bruising just above his ankle so he's having some light treatment and doing some work with me, he should be back in training later in the week.
Liam Atkin had close to a good weeks running under his belt last week and got back to training for a couple of days. Unfortunately on the second day of training he inured his thigh again, not exactly the same point as last time but in the same area. He's had an ultra sound scan which shows he's re-torn a part of his thigh and he'll be having an MRI scan on Saturday, then we'll know a bit more on the extent of the tear. As it stand that's him probably out for the rest of the season.
From the Youth team Andy Hardman is back in full training and we have no new injuries from them.
So that's the lot for now.
Keep well
Dolly
