U13 GIRLS COMMUNITY CUP

The Football in the Community project held the annual Community Girls U13 6-a-side Cup at the Sands Centre in Carlisle recently, with 13 schools taking part.
The teams came from Trinity A+B, St Aidan's, Morton School, Southfield Tech, Solway Community School (Silloth), Netherhall, Whitehaven A+B, William Howard and QEGS.
The teams were split up in to two groups, with the top two going through to the semi-finals. Both groups were tight, with all teams picking up points and even enforcing a play off between three teams in one group, as they battled for the right to progress.
The semi-final teams were Trinity A+B, St Aidan's and Southfield Tech (Workington). St Aidan's and Trinity A marched on through and gave us a local derby for the Final.
The game itself was evenly contested until the last couple of minutes when St Aidan's crashed home three quick fire goals to quash any hopes of a Trinity win. The final score was 5-1 to St Aidan's.
St Aidan's now progress through to represent Carlisle United at the regional Finals being held at Stockport County on 8 February, with the winners getting to play the National Final at the final of the Johnston Paint Trophy (hopefully at the new Wembley Stadium - if it's ready!)
We would like to thank all those teams that took part. It made for an excellent tournament with all showing an excellent attitude throughout.
Finally, we wish St Aidan's all the best in the next round.
