It's been a busy old period for the Football in the Community team here at Brunton Park as they continue to run their extremely popular summer football packages, as well as the fantastic football and penalty competitions they had lined up for the club Open Day.

Last week saw a very successful summer school attract a host of kids to the St Aidans Sports complex here in Carlisle.  The lads and lasses were split in to groups, representing the footballing nations of the world, and took part in a variety of football based competitions throughout the package.

FITC officer John Halpin said, "the kids really enjoy themselves when they come to these schools and they really do give absolutely everything, no matter what the activity happens to be.  It is fantastic to see and their attitude makes it all very enjoyable for us as well."

As a special treat for the youngsters Halpy had arranged for club owner Fred Story, along with captain Kev Gray and keeper Tony Williams, to come along to the presentation at the end of the course and their arrival caused quite a stir amongst the kids.

Kev Gray told us, "things like this are fantastic.  Halpy and his team have worked hard to make it go as well as it has and we all enjoy coming along to see if the kids have had a good time.  It's nice to be able to present a few of them with their certificates and medals as well."

Keep an eye on the website and in the Match Programmes for details of courses held as part of our Football in the Community scheme.
