Referee Tony Bates
Referee Tony Bates

Taking charge of this game is Mr Tony Bates from Staffordshire.

Mr Bates is a vastly experienced referee who has already been in charge of games involving Leeds and Carlisle this season.

United came under his rule on the first day of the League season, the 1-1 away draw at Walsall. Mr Bates produced just one card, a yellow for Joe Garner.

He also officiated in the FA Cup game between Leeds United and Hereford United at Edgar Street, back in November. The game ended all square at 0-0 with Douglas and Parker picking up the only cards in the game - both were yellows.

Overall Mr Bates has been in charge of 35 games this season, handing out 82 yellow cards and 2 red.
